Neutrinos faster than the speed of light?

The first known observation of a neutrino, on November 13, 1970. A neutrino hit a proton in a hydrogen bubble chamber. The collision occurred at the point where three tracks emanate on the right of the photograph.

Up until now it has been believed that the fasted measurable ”thing” in the Universe was the speed of light. This may have changed. Einsteins special theory of relativity depends on light being the fasted thing in the universe but results from Cern may have turned this on its head. In tests carried out over a distance of 732km Neutrinos arrived at their destination a ”fraction of a second” early, hence faster than the speed of light. Please follow the link for more info

Neutrinos are a fundamental particle that make up the Universe and one of the least understood and are not effected by electromagnetic forces

RCA Alumni 2011 Master Copies

One of MAMOs main aims is to come at old problems from new angles! Here are presented several interpretations of famous paintings. The goal of this section of the class was to expand ones concentration from 30 to 40 second bursts to one or more hours. By setting up a model and a copy of a painting the students would, every few minutes, change from drawing one to the other and vice versa. This informs ones eyes in new way, gives a different view of images burdened by the weight of history and allows one to see colour, tone and light from a different perspective. No two people see, experience or respond to the world in the same way, even when copying a picture. One student proclaimed that even though he knew the Cezanne very well and had ”seen” it many times there was a figure in the painting that had only then revealed itself to him due to the intense looking required when drawing.

RCA Alumni Class 2011 Students

These photographs are from a section of the class which required the students to meditate on one or two images for a prolonged length of time, while still keeping up the energy they were putting into drawings 30 to 40 seconds in length. This energy for the most part is transferred from a sometimes feverish, physical, approach to an awareness of ever changing light, space and sensation within the room and the object they are drawing while also internalising those feelings within themselves. It is a very draining exercise that when completed has the strange effect of energising the students while at the same time making them feel ”shattered.”
