Following on from the last session we spent time looking at colour, how to mix secondary and tertiary, and mixing colours from observation of famous paintings. This was applied to copies as with last weeks class. To take the pressure off copying a famous image it was broken into sections and reconstructed later. The quality of acrylics meant a struggle in getting the colours they observed, hence the varying grades from panel to panel…..Though it does add something.
The excercise was repeated twice once with the colours observed, a straight copy, the second a reversal in the colours.
Some students finished 3 or 4 panels others 1 or 2, there is no corret length of time to mix colours and tones, it depends on the individual. All results were unique to the individual who painted it.
