Here are photos from the first of three, two day work shops I taught at Kingston Uni for the BA Illustration/Animation students. The Goal was to get the students to loosen up and think about making marks in a more intuitive way and get them out of the habit of making small, tight fine liner pen drawings. The final exercise was to put the figure on an A1 sheet and make the marks intuitive, the space believable and interesting; and to get the students concentration levels up so they were putting in as much energy into the final 45 min drawing as they had in the 40 second drawings.
Each group differed in their dynamics but all rose up to the challenge.
At the start the level of skill varied across the class but all made some fantastic images. This is group 001. Group 002 and 03 will follow.
