I was asked during the Easter term to teach drawing classes at Imperial college. I decided to do something a little different (for me) and teach some anatomy. By using photo reference and model with an athletes physique we set to work placing the muscular structure onto the body. This had two main results 1) The students quickly gained an understanding of anatomy in a very shirt period of time and 2) The students really got a sense of how to overcome spacial problems by breaking the space apart. Many of these students haven’t drawn for years if at all. I do not say this to cover their tracks but rather point out how good these drawings are and the level they have achieved, despite their lack of art practice. You will see this come up again and again in the next few posts by these students.
