RCA Life Drawing Studio work Oct-Dec term 2012

Many classes taught over the term but no time to update the site until now! Here are a selection of images from that time. College wide classes with ever rotating students from different design backgrounds and levels of ability.

MAMO RCA class April 2012

Final RCA class of the term, moving from the life room to apply experience in the ”real” world. Each person has developed their own approach. This is a very difficult thing to do but creates a link between the life room and and the practice of drawing outside.

MAMO RCA class March 2012

RCA class, two approaches ink and large translations. The ink drawings in the first half of the gallery, were made with various tools including bamboo and brushes. Water was also added the ink in some drawings to make for a more subtle image. This was introduced to get the students to consider the power marks can have. It’s not always the strong, black or pop colour lines that have the greatest effet, pale marks can hit your senses and pull you in as they alway hint at new information and reel light rather than shouting as black or brightly coloured marks do.

Images in the second half of the galley are first made by the student and then remade at a far greater size with different tools. This reinterpretation of the image makes for new marks, discoveries and images as you can see.

RCA January 13th class 2012

First class of the term at the Royal College of Art, London. In the last few classes I have changed a few things around to allow for further investigation by the student into the scale in which they work and the materials they use.
