The Lantern Shop, Cafe & Bakery — The Lantern Community

The Lantern Café is housed within the Lantern Centre. An award winning, beautiful building, housing a shop selling fair trade gifts, organic food, organic toiletries, and environmentally friendly cleaning products. There is also a bookshop.The Lantern Community strives to create a home life and meaningful day opportunities for adults with a learning disability. Some of the residents choose to work in the kitchen with us assisting in preparation and service of food and drinks, learning new skills and being valued for all they are able to achieve. Our menus change with the seasons according to availability and many dishes are inspired here in the Lantern Café. There is a wood burning stove for those chilly winter days and ample outside seating for the glorious sunny days with gardens, a pond and small nursery selling bio-dynamic plants, as well as a small children’s play area. The atmosphere is calm, a peaceful oasis to unwind and relax, have a potter around our lovely gift shop where some of the products for sale have been lovingly made on site in our workshops by true craftsmen. We are on the doorstep of the New Forest and also Moors Valley Country Park with its cycle trail way (Castleman Trailway) having access into our gardens. Our café is Ideal for walkers and cyclists alike to take a breather and nourish body and soul. Do come along and experience what we have to offer, we look forward to welcoming you!
